Job Responsibilities:


Pond Transportation is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer with 5-10 years’ experience for our growing transportation team. This position will be located in any of the following offices: Atlanta, Georgia; Augusta, Georgia; Columbia, SC; Jacksonville, FL or Tampa, FL. Projects include preliminary and final design development; urban and rural roadway design; freeway and interchange design.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

As a Roadway Design Engineer, will be responsible for the design aspects of infrastructure projects for roadways including intersections, collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates and interstate interchanges.

  • Developing project design criteria, geometric development of design alternatives, design calculations, construction plans and details, quantities, cost estimates and final specifications.
  • Working on multiple unique assignments simultaneously.
  • Applicant should also have strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills and be a self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible individual who possess the initiative and ability to tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts.
  • Performs work involving the preparation of roadway and highway design using local (State DOT, County or City) or AASHTO standards
  • Assists with project management duties.
  • Serving as technical liaison with client at staff level for work within the discipline.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring of project team members, including other engineers and technical support staff.
  • Interpersonal and client facing requirements will require someone with excellent, clear and concise, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to contribute information to meetings, assist with effective client presentations and prepare written reports and meeting minutes.
  • Assist as needed on other projects assigned and work with other Pond offices as needed.

Job Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineer
  • PE or EIT with the ability to obtain PE within one year from date of hire.
  • Engineering experience with transportation design and engineering, which may include cost estimates, technical reports, construction plans and project displays.
  • Proficiency with CAD particularly: Microstation, InRoads, Geopak, OpenRoads (3D)
  • Familiarity with DOT design standards and policies.
  • Experience working in large multi-disciplinary teams
  • Candidates should be proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on DOT Design Build projects is a plus
  • Active participation in local, statewide, and/or national professional associations.
