Job Responsibilities:

We are currently in need of an experienced water/wastewater engineer to join our growing Community Development group. This is an exciting opportunity to help advance a new area of service within Pond, with ample ability to further grow a career at one of the fastest growing A/E/C firms in the country.


This position will work closely with the other Community Development staff of engineers to provide design expertise for water and wastewater projects throughout the southeast. Projects may include the design and/or analysis of pressure and gravity piping systems, design of water storage facilities, design of pumping stations, water or wastewater planning, or municipal water and wastewater treatment.

Requirements


This position requires 8+ years’ experience as a civil engineer in a consulting environment. An accredited degree in civil engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) registration required. Requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with people, and strong presentation skills. Experience with water/wastewater projects is required, with the ability to wholly develop related civil construction plans and specifications. The candidate should be an energetic self-starter, comfortable with working self-sufficiently, and comfortable with communicating independently with clients and permitting jurisdictions.


Additional Experience Requirements


  • The following engineering experience is desired: planning, designing and preparing plans related to water and wastewater infrastructure. Tasks are expected to include field assessments; modeling; planning; the design of distribution, collection, and transmission pipelines; the design of pumps and boosters, as well as lift stations; and possibly water supply and water/wastewater treatment systems.
  • A strong understanding of hydraulic modeling for pressure piping systems and the ability to perform such modeling fully and independently is required (i.e. WaterCAD or similar software).
  • Experience with construction administration is required, including addressing RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings, field observations, preparation of reports, etc.
  • Participation in applicable professional associations, activities, and conferences is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are needed, and the candidate should be a self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible individual who possess the initiative and ability to tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts while maintaining existing client satisfaction.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are needed, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations, and prepare design documents to a high standard.
  • This position requires strong client management skills, including preparation and development of proposals and client relationship building.
  • AutoCAD, ArcGIS, WaterCAD, Newforma, MS Office, and/or Deltek Vision experience preferred.
  • Experience with supervision and mentoring of junior staff preferred.
  • Experience with the preparation of scopes of work and fee proposals is desired.
