Job Responsibilities:

Excellent opportunity for a senior water resources engineer to join Pond’s growing water resources group. The ideal candidate will have career experience with an emphasis on civil projects such as coastal infrastructure, dams, levees, bridges, flood control structures, stream restoration, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, and other related water resources projects. Project and team management and client development is a priority of the position and the candidate should have a background in either general civil design, hydrology & hydraulics, or geotechnical disciplines with applied experience in Florida managing multiple projects and staff.


Job Qualifications:

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:  

  • ·       Leading the analysis, design, and preparation of technical reports, plans, specifications and estimates. 
  • ·       Plan and manage projects
  • ·       Develop, supervise, coach and mentor technical staff. 
  • ·       Serve as Project Manager for medium-to-large projects with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists and planners. 
  • ·       Client development and management. 
  • ·       Maintain effective communications with client, project stakeholders and regulatory agencies. 
  • ·       Provide supervision of interdisciplinary team of engineers, engineering technicians, designers, drafting personnel, scientist, etc., assigned to projects. Coordinate assigned work to ensure continuity, consistency, and quality. 
  • ·       Direct and supervise complex studies and investigations. Investigate new areas of technology or new applications of existing techniques. Define tasks to be conducted by others, and provide general supervision, review, and approval. Responsible for collecting, correlating, and preparing recommendations and conclusions for reports. 
  • ·       Evaluate and analyze project decisions to ensure objectivity, soundness of design, and impact of those decisions on schedule, budget, and needs. 
  • ·       Track team and project financials including preparation of status reports. 
  • ·       Develop and maintain established schedule. Keep the Group Manager and/or project team informed of all project activities, responding promptly to needs, problems, or requests associated with project design. Maintain timeliness and technical correctness of a project to ensure high-quality work that meets the client’s budget and expectations. 
  • ·       Remain current on existing and pending regulations and related technological advancements. 
  • ·       Participate in the administration, interpretation, and implementation of contracts. Participate in professional societies, attend professional conferences, and conduct presentations for societies and/or clients. 


Required Skills and Qualifications:  

  • ·       Minimum Experience - 10+ years of experience in engineering for civil projects such as coastal water management structures, bridges, hydrologic & hydraulic studies, dams, levees, and flood control structures and 3 years of experience serving as project manager for medium-to-large scale, heavy civil design or construction projects. 
  • ·       Minimum Education - B.S. degree in Engineering 
  • ·       Minimum Certification - Registered Professional Engineer with the Florida Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. 
  • ·       Fluency in applicable software.
  • ·       Excellent communication skills – both technical writing and oral. 
  • ·       Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a project team and oversee excellent quality of work with a commitment to technical excellence and the continuous professional development of self and responsible support staff. 
  • ·       Occasional travel for professional development, project and client meetings is required. 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:  

  • ·       Florida PE is a must
  • ·       Experience with Florida Water Management Districts
  • ·       Experience with the Florida Department of Transportation
  • ·       Team leadership
